Hi folks,

I am currently in my flat in Glasgow where the Queen’s Baton has just passed my window. The city is buzzing with excitement, and I was really lucky to get the opportunity to take part in on of the BBC Pacific Quay Concerts last night. There will be concerts every day during the games, but the gig I did with Shooglenifty and The Young Master Drummers of Manganiyar can be found here for the next week or so.

This weekend I will be teaching mandolin at the Southern Fried festival in Perth before heading south to work with the participants of the Hothouse Summer course in Halsway before we all head off to perform at Sidmouth.

On the 7th of August, my duo partner, Jenn Butterworth and I will be taking part in ‘A Scottish Situation,’ as part of a selection of online gigs hosted by Emma Beaton. If you would like to watch our house concert from the comfort of your own home then you can find more info here.

I am slowly but surely starting to work on some new material for a couple of different projects, one with Ali Hutton and Andrea Gobbi which is very exciting. We have been developing a sound which is quite experimental, so it is inspiring a different approach to song writing/sourcing for me.

I hope you are all having a great summer, and those of you that are in Glasgow enjoy the Commonwealth Games and all the cultural events it has to offer.
