10th September 2023, 10am – 3pm : Glasgow Mandolin Band Workshop Day at Sloans Bar, Glasgow. This is aimed at teaching some new tunes for the band, but anyone is welcome to come and join us. ( Please note – due to the hire fee of the venue, this is event is dependent on numbers. Please let me know by the 27th of August of you plan on attending. Thanks!)

National Piping Centre Mandolin Workshops 2023/2024

I’ve joined forces with The National Piping Centre to bring you a series of stand alone mandolin workshops. They’re aimed at those looking to improve technique and confidence through learning repertoire. To sign up just drop me an email

5th October : Pushing the Boundaries 1 : Learn a modern pipe tune with a focus on ornamentation and playing to speed

16th November 6.30pm : Pushing the Boundaries 2 : Learn a funky Scandinavian tune with overlapping parts, harmony and backing. Aimed at intermediate and above but all welcome. This tune will become part of the Glasgow Mandolin repertoire (£25)

23rd November 6.30pm : Glasgow Mandolin Band Tuition Night, ready for our re-launch tomorrow! LB will re-cap previous band tunes and arrangements for those who missed the original tuition or need a top-up. This will include some focus on technique, healthy practice and learning by ear. All welcome. TAB and music available in advance. (£25)

4th December 6.30pm : Fun with tunes from America. Learn a couple of intermediate tunes with simple backing (£25)

19th December 2pm : Chords and Backing Focus group. We’ll learn to back a song and tune, and look at how we can get creative about it too! (please note earlier time)

* Friday the 24th November 6.30pm : Glasgow Mandolin Band RELAUNCH! Our first official get together in AGES! (£8 suggested donation on the night)

* Tuesday the 12th of December at 6.30pm : Band Practice 2 and possibly a Christmas Party. More news to follow
