2014 has well and truly begun

Hello!

Christmas, New year and Celtic Connections have all been and gone since I last updates this, so thought it was about time I caught up.

After a lovely break back in Lincs with the family, and an excursion to Ullapool for new year I got back to Glasgow just in time for a breather before the festival began. This year’s Celtic Connections was a cracker. My first gig was a ‘Deadly Duo’ concert with Jenn Butterworth along side Calum Stewart and Heikki Bourgault. It was a great night, lots of friendly faces in the audience as well as new ones. We didn’t get to stick about though as we had to pack up quick-smart and run over to play at the festival club (where we re-appeared over the course of the festival with our sessioning pals ‘The Flying Ducks’)

After a week or so of playing in sessions with The Blas Collective and other friends it was time for a brand new gig for me as part of Mairearad and Anna’s big band. The other members are Eilidh Shaw, Tia Files, Natalie Haas and Gillian Frame. I had not worked with quite a few of these women before and it was a real pleasure to get an opportunity to. Hopefully it’ll all happen again sometime!

Now it is back to normality. I have been busy teaching down in Newcastle and preparing for the Fort Augustus Feis next weekend. I have a gig coming up on the 27th called ‘stretched’ which happens every month to motivate different groups of people to get together and create something new.

It has also just been confirmed that I will be doing a solo slot to support Mo Kenney at The Old Hairdressers on Wednesday the 12th, and then at The Bevvy Sisters’ album launch at the Glad Cafe on the 29th of March (both in Glasgow).

Jenn and I are busy getting gigs sorted out for 2014. We will keep you posted about this. In the meantime, we have put up a couple of new live tracks here https://soundcloud.com/jenn-laura-beth

Hopefully see you at a gig soon
