Glasgow Mandolin Band

I started Glasgow mandolin band after being inspired by seeing Jenny Henry and the wonderful Shetland mandolin band. At the time I had a lot of adult students, many whom didn’t have a musical outlet. The band is run fairly loosely (i.e when I’m free!) and is open to anyone who fancies joining. There’s no pressure to come to every rehearsal, and I try to make it a fairly relaxed environment. I provide tunes at a mixture of difficulties, with some more simple parts.

Ethan Setiawan and I set up Glasgow Mandolin Retreat in 2024, in conjunction with The National Piping Centre. Our idea was to create a friendly, relaxed weekend with trad and bluegrass mandolin workshops, sessions and concerts.
